Review the article by Wright and Wright from this week’s Learning Resources and focus on how to develop SMART IEP goals.

***********In the “Writing Quality Instructional and Behavioral Individualized Education Program (IEP) Goals” document, do the following:
*Identify the IEP goals in the IEP Goal column that you consider to be quality goals. Write quality goal in the corresponding cells under the Quality IEP Goal or Needs Improvement column. Then, explain how each quality goal meets the SMART criteria of a quality goal.
*Next, identify the IEP goals that are not well constructed and write needs improvement in the corresponding cells under the Quality IEP Goal or Needs Improvement column. Then, for those goals that you identified as needing improvement, explain why they do not meet the SMART criteria (not specific, not measurable, no action words, not realistic/relevant, or not time limited). Write the problematic areas for the goal in the corresponding cell’s Problem Area column.
*Finally, rewrite the problematic goals to make them quality IEP goals in the corresponding cells under the Revised IEP Goal column.
***You may need to create part[s] of the goal yourself.
