You will have the opportunity to examine different aspects of family and youth advocacy. The role of an advocate and different fields of advocacy will be explored. Your goal in this assignment is to create a hypothetical case from one of the groups listed below. Case Study Begin by choosing a population to create a hypothetical case about. You may select services from one of the following areas: adoption, foster care, juvenile delinquency, PDD/autism, substance abuse, educational, grief, or mental health. Again, you may choose only one of provided groups to base your case on. For the first part of the Assignment, you will write a 1-2 page paper developing a case that includes a general summary of the child or family’s history that needs to be addressed. The history should address any pertinent information that relates to the need for an advocate. Make sure to take cultural considerations into account. Using the Unit 9 Assignment Template, include the following required case study information in your essay: Fictitious Client Name Client’s Age, Gender, and Race Client’s Family Structure Describe the client’s family system. Include information on immediate family as well as any extended family issues. Reason for Referral Discuss the situation(s) that lead to the client’s referral. Be specific about why the client needs a human service professional. Presenting Problems Describe the client’s presenting problems. History or Episodes of Client Problems Describe the client’s history of episodes or problem. Be sure to include any information that details the need for your planned interventions.
